Since we're on the subject of makeovers, our master bedroom underwent a serious one in the last two weeks. We bought our house in August of 2009 and just now got around the updating our bedroom. It would have been done way sooner but Caroline's bedroom and furniture took priority over ours. Not that I'm complaining, we wouldn't have it any other way. For a year and a half almost we lived with the original drapery that the previous owner had up, a silver t.v. stand that was in Scott's apartment when he first moved to Houston, a queen size platform bed (which was nice but not nearly spacious enough for me, Scott and the chihuahua), and two tiny nightstands we bought on clearance from Target. Needless to say, we grew use to our bedroom being like that. It definitely wasn't a cozy place we loved to snuggle up in at night. It seemed like every night when we got into bed, we would lay there and say, "We have GOT to do something with this bedroom." Finally, we did. Scott and I worked our tails off for a week straight. We took down the old curtain panels and sold them in less than 24 hours, patched holes from the curtain rods, painted an accent wall and the rest of the bedroom. We started on the Saturday before super bowl and completed last Sunday. On the Saturday we finished up with the painting we went shopping for just a mattress and bedding. The furniture was suppose to be on hold for awhile. Low and behold, we end up getting a new mattress and box spring set along with a whole new bedroom suit and new bedding. We came across a great deal and couldn't pass it up. Below are a few before and after pictures. Updating a bedroom completely is a little costly, so things like drapery and a new t.v. are still on the "to do" list.
