Happy 1st Birthday Caroline Taylor!!!

Friday, September 23rd was Caroline's 1 year birthday.  We have a 1 year old!!! Officially a toddler.  No more calling her an infant, or waiting in the infant area at the doctors office.  No more buying formula or jar baby food.  Walking the baby isle at HEB to just get diapers made me a little sad yesterday.  Little things like that get to me.  I have to say though... not buying $60 worth of formula every grocery trip is a little nice.  I can't believe a year ago I was snuggled down in my hospital room with my sweet baby girl.  Everyone was over the moon with joy and excitement.  How can this tiny little creature bring so much love? It blows my mind every time I look at her.

With us celebrating C's birthday last weekend, her actual birthday was low key and pretty much a normal day.  I fixed her scrambled egg and toast for breakfast.  For lunch she had chicken fries, shells n cheese and sweet peas.  We went to the doctor for her 1 year well check.  Boo for the 4 shots!! Ruined her day, so by the time we got home she was a drama queen until bed time.  That was fun! Here are the stats:

Length: 30.32"
Weight: 19 lb 8.5 oz.  (I was worried she may be a little too slim but the doctor said she is perfect)
Head circumference: 18.11"
Size 3 diapers, gonna be that for a little while longer I think!!
Wears size 12 month clothing
She is on 100% whole milk and loving it!!
Eats everything we eat!  Favorites are yogurt, pizza, grilled cheese, sweet peas, green beans, broccoli, hummus (yes I did just say hummus), gold fish, pita chips, potatoes, all pasta and pasta salads, chicken, she had some pulled pork at her birthday party and loved it, scrambled eggs, and I could go on and on. 

When I first started introducing table foods to Caroline I vowed I was going to establish a non picky eater and I think we are doing good so far.  There's nothing she won't eat.  She is starting to get to the point of inspection when I put something new in front of her but she always opens that mouth!

Words she is saying: dada, dadee, ma, mama, tendee (Kenzie, my moms dog), ba (ball), da (dog) and a bunch of other jibberish that makes perfect sense to her!! 

This weekend was a low key weekend and we just enjoyed our Birthday girl!  Saturday we went to Scott's cousins football game up at the Cinco Ranch football fields, came home and watched a heartbreaking loss with our Aggie's.  Sunday we tried out a brand new church and absolutely LOVED it!! I think we may have found a winner, finally!  I was a little worried about leaving Caroline in the nursery, as she's been having some separation anxiety issues.  Once she saw all the other 1 year olds she was wiggling to get out of my arms and never looked back!! :)  Below are some pictures I snapped at the football game of our little toddler!!

Saturday, September 17th we celebrated our baby girl's 1st birthday.  Although she doesn't  officially turn 1 until Friday, this seemed to seal the deal!! We had a wonderful turn out!  When I started realizing how many people we were going to be inviting we decided to rent out Firethorne's conference room area for her party to be on the safe side. Good thing!  We had 28 people total!  I was so overwhelmed at how many people love and care about our sweet Caroline.  It warms my heart that she has such wonderful family and friends.  She is one lucky little girl and we couldn't be more blessed.  She had a wonderful time at her party and made quite the haul.  She got a little overwhelmed a couple of times from all the attention she was receiving but quickly got over it.  No major meltdowns!! Whew! Thank you to everyone who made this day extra special and we missed the ones who could not make it!! 

We go to the doctor for her 1 year well check on Friday the 23rd. (Her actual birthday)  I will be sure and post all the stats and her official 12 months post!!

What the heck!!

Either I was half asleep when I wrote my last post or just flat out not paying attention.  I put the blog title as "Memorial" Day... wow.  Anyway... it's corrected now to anyone who caught that!! I find myself doing things like that all the time these days.  You would think it's pregnancy brain or something!! It's NOT!! Don't worry! :)

Labor Day Weekend 2011

This past weekend was a MUCH needed LONG weekend that I got to spend with my husband, little girl and some great friends.  Scott just finished up his busy month for the quarter and I finally get him back again.  Just for a little while though.  Hunting season is right around the corner and I'm pretty sure I'm going to forget what he looks like.  Anyway, Saturday was a day of relaxation.  Scott messed around the house for a little bit and Caroline and I went to Hobby Lobby.  Later that evening we went over to our friends Will and Amanda's for the LSU/Oregon game.  We had a fabulous time and Will cooked some of the best filet's I've ever tasted.  YUM!  Sunday was our first Aggie football game.  Talk about a loud house.  Caroline has been used to Scott's hoopin' and hollerin' since before she was born!  Again, we hung out with some great friends, had some great food and thoroughly enjoyed watching our Ag's BTHO of SMU!!  Monday when we went out and ran errands it was, "Hey, great game last night", "How bout those Ags last night", every time we turned around.  (We had our Aggie shirts on).  Scott and I were laughing because that's never happened before. This is one of my most favorite times of the year. I love waking up on Saturday morning, turning on College Game Day and then hearing the sounds of college bands playing. We are attending two Aggie football games in College Station this year, one of which will be C's first.  Looking forward to it!

I didn't take too many pictures this weekend.  Just a few of Caroline playing in the front yard and "helping" daddy pull weeds in the flower beds.

Our Big Girl!

This has been the best video I've been able to capture.  The kid gets so sidetracked before she spots something and drops back to her crawling to get there quicker.  I'll try to get a better one today, but y'all get the gist! :)

We have a walker!!!

Today, September 1st 2011, Caroline took her first "real" consecutive steps.  She was so excited and squealed with joy!!  She's still relying on crawling as her main way to get around, but it won't be long before crawling will be history!! Yay baby C!!! Just wanted to document here until I get around to updating the baby book! I'll post a video later!
