18 Months!

Here I sit typing up yet ANOTHER monthly post.  I just did her 17 months I thought. Hmmmm... I say it every time, where does the time go?? Caroline is turning into a kid more and more everyday.  She is lively, sassy, sweet, polite and sometimes a little demanding.  I feel like I'm constantly saying "what do you say?" and she will quickly respond with a cute little "peace" or "tanks".  It's starting to come more and more without me having to remind her.  She is an outdoor girl through and through kinda like her Mama and Daddy.  I can no longer pull up to our mailbox that's right next to the park without getting her out to play.  She immediately starts pointing and saying "peace, peace, peace" begging to go play.  How can you say no to that?  Today I pulled up and the park was packed so I had to just check the mail and drive home.  Well... drama started as soon I put the car in drive.  Thanks to whoever put the park right next to the mailboxes.  This will no longer be a simple task when Caroline is in tow. :)

Potty training is still in progress.  I haven't fully cracked the whip yet, but we are getting close.  She is now disappearing to the bathroom and I'll find her on her potty chair with a book.  Her diaper and pants are still on of course.  The other night during bath time she stood up and gave me a little bit of a panicked look.  We pulled her out and sat her on her potty and it was quite productive!! And stinky!!! She shows absolutely no fear of the potty or doing business in it.  After she's finished she runs over to the big potty and we flush whatever there was and wave bye bye! (She is rather infatuated with this) After that we wash hands and she gets a little pez candy from her pez dispenser.  You know the little dispenser that pop out the little candies that are pure sugar!!

We just got home from the doctor today and she passed everything with flying colors!
Stats:
24 lbs (a little on the low side)
35" long
19" head circumference

She had 1 shot that completed her series of HEP A.  No tears! She is tough, tough, tough! She doesn't have to go back until she is 2 years old!!! Unless we have some sick visits in there, which I'm sure we will!

Friday she starts a little gym class at My Gym Katy.  She is going to LOVE it!! It will be nice for her to get out and socialize and exert some of that energy!  I guess that's about it for now!! We love our precious angel and couldn't ask for a better kid. :)

A little potty time! So cute!

Love these two with all my heart!

My gorgeous little girl!

She's obsessed with her "crocs", they were more like a $7 special at HEB!

She's about to outgrow her Disney princess rocking horse!!

Doing a little cleaning while wearing mommy's necklace!

Testin' out the water!! Felt pretty good, thanks to our friends heating it up!

Happy 1st Birthday Logan!

Saturday we celebrated our neighbors and friends little girls 1st birthday.  Logan is also the little girl that comes and spends everyday with Caroline and I.  She has had a rather rough start to her first year of life but she is doing BEAUTIFULLY now.  She is such a little blessing to everyone that surrounds her.  Happy 1st Birthday Logan Kathleen!!

Birthday Girl!

Bounce house fun (having trouble focusing my camera)
I later bounced right out of this thing onto the grass!

C & Daddy were a little out of it and went to take a nap shortly after this.

Hi friend!

What are all y'all taking pictures of?

Caroline chased around Miss Sophie all day.  She got some sugars finally!

St. Patricks Day/Reed Annual Crawfish Boil

Every year around spring time my sister and brother-in-law Lynn and LeAnn put on a huge crawfish boil.  140 lbs to be exact.  Along with that, everyone brings a side and there was also 3 briskets that were smoked for the event too!  Sadly, Scott and I have never been able to make the event until this year.  Year before last I was pregnant and not feeling so hot, last year it was around the end of April and work was picking up for Scott.  So this year, Lynn made sure to schedule it so we could attend, and on St. Patty's Day on top of that made it that much more festive!  Thanks Lynn & LeAnn, it was so much fun and it was by far the best crawfish I have ever tasted!

We only got a few pictures taken because we were busy chasing the Little Miss around!! She LOVES the country!! Well, she just loves the outdoors. :)

Looking at the cows!

Daddy was getting artistic

Mud Bugs!

It was hard to get her to sit still that day

I happened to snap a pic as she fell backwards in Kenzie's bed. :)

All over the place at MiMi & PePaw's!

Potty training here we come!!!

So some would argue that 17 1/2 months is too early for potty training.  However, I have to say that my kid has been showing all the signs for awhile now.  Even her pediatrician agreed, but really wanted me to wait until 18 months. I have been putting it off, putting it off, for as long as I could so she could mature and fully grasp the whole idea.  I feel that starting too early could cause breakdowns, fits and lots of tears if they simply were not ready.  I've been doing things like taking her to the potty with me, showing her the basics, etc.  She gets it.

This morning Caroline blew my socks off!!! It wasn't planned, it was pure spur of the moment.  She got "the look".  The infamous look that means, "I'm pooping or about to."  So I got the idea to give it a try.  "Caroline, you poop in the potty, lets go to the potty."  She runs back to the bathroom, I take her pajama bottoms and diaper off and hoist her up on the toilet.  (Keep in mind, I haven't even bought a potty chair yet.) I really thought this was a long shot and there probably wouldn't be any success so my hopes weren't up.  She sat there for a second and babbled a little bit.  I told her to poop, she beared down and "plop, plop!!" Well... it was a celebration after that!!!  I couldn't believe it, I was fully prepared for shut down mode to happen.  After she got cleaned up, she flushed the toilet, put her clothes back on and washed her hands and got a m&m.  (Yes, I'm all for bribing, or in this case rewarding.)

So proud of this girl!!! I understand its not going to always be like this.  We are going to have accidents and lots of set backs. Patience is a virtue. But I was pretty darn stoked that this happened the first time she ever sat on the toilet.  What a rock star!!!!

Looks like C and I will be heading to Babies R Us this afternoon to let her pick out a potty chair.

Productive Weekend!!

Scott and I had a very productive and fun weekend.  Friday evening we went for sushi and then came home and hung out with our neighbors.  Quite fun!  Saturday we had our first crawfish of the season!! A little small still, but DELICIOUS.  Sunday was a majorly productive day.  We got out and went to babies r us and Sams.  I didn't know it was going to turn into "buy Caroline presents day" but it kinda did.  She got a twilight turtle that projects the moon and stars on her ceiling and walls.  She loves it!! She also got a new pink T-Ball set.  She was more into carrying both balls around or dragging the bat behind her as she ran up and down the sidewalk.  When one of the neighborhood kids would try to take a ball from her to show her how to do it, she was NOT having it.  They would quickly give it back. Haha!  I also ran up to the nursery and picked up some flowers for my pots and some for our flower beds.  We had them and the trees mulched earlier this week so they were ready for some color! I also decided to try a couple of tomato plants and a couple of strawberry plants too.  We will see!!!  I'm more hopeful for the tomatoes.

I was terrible with the camera this weekend.  Mostly because my hands were in gardening gloves and buried in dirt, but I managed to grab one of Caroline throwing her ball with my phone.  She was past the point of exhaustion last night.  She ran so much and played so hard.  She has meltdowns EVERY time we come in from outside.  Breakdowns that last about 15 minutes.  It consists of tears, face down on the floor and me just having to step over her and ignore it completely.  I love that she loves being outdoors but seriously? I think I know what our form of punishment may be one day!! :)

Aren't those little legs in shorts the cutest?? Ha!! :)
